Biography

Wai is a senior economist in Baker McKenzie’s London transfer pricing team. Prior to joining the Firm in 2015, Wai worked in the transfer pricing team of a Big 4 accountancy firm in London. Wai is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Practice Focus

Wai is an experienced transfer pricing advisor and works across a range of transfer pricing matters for multinational clients. Wai’s core practice focuses on: transfer pricing disputes; asset and company valuations; cross-border financing and transfer pricing of debt; real estate financing; and, financial modelling. Wai’s key clients operate in the TMT, Consumer Goods, and Alternative Capital industries.


Representative Experience


  • Advising a leading technology trading firm to successfully navigate the UK’s Profit Diversion Compliance Facility. Wai designed the profit split model underpinning the client’s revised transfer pricing framework, supported the client through meetings with HMRC, and drafted supporting documentation.
  • Assisting a major alternative capital client to price over USD 1 billion of debt into its Chilean and Colombian businesses.
  • Advising a global technology client through a complex IP valuation and transfer pricing focused dispute with HMRC. Wai is leading technical discussions on core valuation principles with HMRC’s Shares and Asset Valuation team.
  • Assisting a telecommunications client to implement a new brand royalty structure and preparing various TP documentation.
