Biography

Richard is a Corporate Partner from Baker McKenzie's global reorganisations practice group in London. Richard is recognised in the Legal 500 (2023) as a leading individual for International Business Reorganisations. He regularly advises clients on structuring and implementing complex cross border reorganisations, legal entity rationalisation programmes and carve-out transactions. His practice focuses largely on the IMT sector.

After a short period away from the Firm, Richard re-joined Baker McKenzie in 2023 as a Partner in our London office. Richard originally joined Baker McKenzie as a trainee in September 2006 and was first elected as a Partner to our London office in 2018. Richard has spent time in working in our London, Melbourne and San Francisco offices.

  • Advising a FSTE 100 client on the corporate law aspects of its simplification and rationalisation strategy in 2023.
  • Advising OLAM international on the planning and implementation of the spin off of its OFI division in 2021.
  • Advising KKR on its USD 2.5 billion carve-out acquisition of Coty Inc's retail and professional beauty business (Wella) in 2020.
  • Advising a US technology company on the conversion of its business model in the UK in 2019.
  • Advising Platinum Equity on its USD 2.1 billion carve-out acquisition of the LifeScan Business from Johnson and Johnson in 2019.
  • Advising Agilent Technologies on the spin out of its electronic measurement business, Keysight Technologies Inc.
  • Advising a global media company on the conversion of its business model in the UK and Europe in 2019.
  • Advising SUEZ on its USD 3.4 billion acquisition and carve-out of GE Water & Process Technologies from General Electric Company in 2017.
  • Advising Emerson Electric on its USD 4 billion carve-out and divestment of its Network Power business to Platinum Equity in 2016.
  • Advising Emerson Electric on the separation carve-out and divestment of its power transmission solutions business to Regal Beloit Corporation in 2015 for USD 1.4 billion
