Biography

Arturo Lara-Hernández is a senior associate in the dispute resolution practice group, with 10 years of experience in complex litigations and arbitrations. Arturo represents clients in civil, commercial, and administrative disputes, including cross-border insolvency proceedings and national and international arbitrations. His main areas of practice include disputes in the technology, banking and finance, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, and consumer protection sectors.

Arturo’s practice focuses on dispute resolution, bringing a decade of experience in representing clients across multiple sectors and leading multidisciplinary teams in high-stakes civil and commercial litigation and arbitration. He has participated in national and international arbitrations administered by the ICC, CAM, and ICDR, involving projects in the energy industry and M&A transactions.

In the field of insolvency, Arturo has represented creditors in cross-border insolvency proceedings and has assisted liquidators and conciliators in high-profile cases involving international oil and gas companies. His experience encompasses both local and international markets.

  • Representing national and international companies in an arbitration against a state-owned entity for the breach of a contract worth USD 60+ million.
  • Defending an international company in a civil lawsuit to protect the confidentiality of its information, due to a contract breach.
  • Assisting a US bank to recover a debt of USD 3+ million.
  • Represented a Fortune 500 company in a civil lawsuit involving claims for moral and punitive damages. Secured a judgment dismissing all claims.
  • Represented national and international companies in an arbitration against a state-owned entity for a breach of an EPC contract. Secured award totaling USD 30+ million.
  • Represented a Mexican company in an arbitration for the breach of an asset and share purchase agreement. Successfully secured an award granting damages.
  • Advised a creditor in the insolvency proceeding of a transportation company in Mexico. Successfully negotiated and executed a reorganization agreement.
  • Defended a company accused of breaching an asset and share purchase agreement due to a tax credit imposed on the counterparty. Secured an award dismissing all claims.
