Biography

Katherine Lang is senior knowledge lawyer for Baker McKenzie's EMEA real estate group. She advises on complex transactional points, English and cross-jurisdictional legal developments, and their business impact for our clients. Katherine works with external bodies including the World Economic Forum and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development on key global real estate issues such as the digital transformation of real estate and ESG matters. Katherine is an Editorial Board member for legal journal Landlord & Tenant Review, a consulting Editorial Board member for LexisPSL, and Vice Chair of Oxford Real Estate Society.

Practice Focus

Katherine's technical experience covers acquisition and disposals of commercial real estate, landlord and tenant matters, hotels and resorts (acting for both owner and operator), real estate aspects of renewables transactions, and supporting complex property financings. Before joining Baker McKenzie, she practiced as a senior transactional real estate lawyer in both London and the UAE.

As an Editorial Board member, Katherine publishes regular pieces in legal journal Landlord & Tenant Review. She also writes articles and commentary for legal and trade publications including Estates Gazette and Property Week. She was recently named as a Key Contributor to the work of the World Economic Forum's Taskforce for the Digital Transformation of Real Estate. Katherine has spoken as a panellist on various topics such as urbanisation (Oxford Real Estate Conference 2021); hybrid working and the future of the CBD (WEF Urban Transformation Summit 2022); and green leasing (WBCSD Corporate Real Estate Directors' Network 2022).
