Biography

Olivia Kliem is an associate in Baker McKenzie's Munich office and a member of the Privacy & Tech practice group. Olivia studied law at the University of Regensburg and completed her legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court in Munich. She joined the firm in April 2023 as law clerk and has been an associate since 2024. She spent her legal clerkship at the German University of Administrative Sciences in Speyer and at Baker McKenzie in Munich and Chicago.

Practice Focus

Olivia's practice focuses on all aspects of European and national information technology and data protection law. She advises German and international clients from the automotive, healthcare, industrial and technology sectors on current issues of technology and data protection law as well as e-commerce and IT contract law. In particular, she assists clients in complying with the rapidly evolving European and German legal situation in the area of data protection and cybersecurity, including new directives, regulations and laws in connection with the digital strategy of the European Union and Germany. In addition, she advises clients on data protection compliance issues in labour law and assists with the drafting of works agreements for the introduction of IT systems.

  • Advised several companies on new requirements of the German legislator regarding IT security in the healthcare sector and their implementation.

  • Advised global companies on proceedings with data protection authorities and litigation in connection with the GDPR.
  • Advised a global company on the implementation of IT and internet policies for employees.
