Biography

Will is a senior associate in Baker McKenzie's Dispute Resolution Department based in London. Will acts for clients on a broad range of commercial disputes. In addition to significant experience in conducting commercial litigation, Will has extensive knowledge in the areas of judicial review and public procurement. He is also qualified as a solicitor advocate.

Will acts for clients in a wide range of sectors, and has particular knowledge of the life sciences and healthcare; media and technology; and financial services industries. He has spent time on secondment at the pharmaceutical company, AbbVie, where much of his work focused on market access and public procurement issues.

The instructions Will works on invariably have an international element to them, and he regularly assists clients with developing dispute resolution strategies with a multijurisdictional dimension. Will is fluent in Spanish, and has previously been seconded to Baker McKenzie’s Madrid office.

Commercial litigation

  • Acting for a financial services company on the defence of a breach of contract claim in the Commercial Court brought by a global outsourcing partner to the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Acting for a leading software company in contractual disputes arising from the impact of Russian sanctions on its distributorship arrangements.
  • Acting for a biotech on a contractual dispute with a commercial partner arising from a licensing, supply, and collaboration agreement relating to the development of a biosimilar.
  • Advising a multinational technology company on the resolution of a contractual dispute relating to a major transformation and outsourcing project for a UK plc.
  • Advising an individual on the defence of a High Court claim for conspiracy culminating in a four-week trial in the Commercial Court in Spring 2021.
  • Acting for a major record label on a joint venture dispute with a high-profile creative in the music industry.

Regulatory, public and media law

  • Acting for a broadcaster on judicial review proceedings in the UK High Court, Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court relating to Ofcom Broadcasting Code sanctions.
  • Acting for a supplier of technology solutions to the transport sector on a challenge to the procurement by a UK public body of a nine-figure contract for the supply of a traffic camera and enforcement solution.
  • Advising an energy supplier on potential litigation in respect of the UK Government's roll out of the Smart Metering implementation programme.
  • Advising a multinational technology company in respect of risk management strategies concerning its potential involvement in the UK Covid-19 Inquiry.
  • Acting for a public body on its involvement in the Thirlwall Inquiry.
  • Acting for a corporate on its involvement in the Dawn Sturgess inquiry.
