John Hall
Biography
John Hall is a senior associate in the Employment & Compensation Practice Group in London. John first joined the Firm as a trainee in 2015 and completed a six-month employment secondment with UBS during his training contract, before qualifying into the Employment & Compensation Practice Group in 2017.
Following qualification, John completed a further secondment with one of the world's leading technology companies before spending two years working as in-house employment counsel at Deliveroo. He returned to Baker McKenzie in February 2024.
Practice Focus
John advises clients on both contentious and non-contentious employment law matters across a wide variety of sectors, including technology, retail and financial services.
John assists with employment-related disputes, provides day-to-day general counsel support for employment queries, and coordinates global employment projects. His practice also includes assisting on the employment and privacy aspects of global and local compliance and internal investigations.

Recent relevant experience includes:
- Advised a high-profile orchestra on a range of matters relating to the engagement of their individual members.
- Coordinated advice and advised a global technology company on employment and compensation issues across EMEA as part of a global employment law retainer.
- Advised a large financial institution on a complex tribunal claim, involving allegations of age discrimination and victimisation.
- Assisted a global manufacturer of musical instruments on the employment and data privacy aspects of an internal investigation following the announcement of an investigation by the Competition and Markets Authority and other European regulators, including coordinating advice across a number of European countries.
- Provided a range of day-to-day employment advice to a luxury West End hotel, including disciplinary proceedings, grievances, sickness absence and negotiated exits.
