Biography

Karen joined Baker McKenzie's Kuala Lumpur office in 1998 and has been a partner in the Firm's London office since 2007. She is the global chair of Private Equity, having previously served as EMEA chair of Private Equity. She is also a member of the Firm’s Global Management Committee.

Practice Focus

Karen is focused on leveraged buyouts, investments, acquisitions, disposals and carve outs for UK and international private equity clients. A large proportion of Karen's work is in relation to cross border or multi-country transactions.

  • Acting for KKR on multiple acquisitions or investments including:
    • its takeover offer of Spectris plc
    • its acquisition of the Karo Healthcare group
    • its acquisition of Biotage AB
    • its acquisition of Nexeye
    • its acquisition of the Superstruct Entertainment Group
    • its investment in Vitesse PSP Ltd.
    • its acquisition of Wella
    • its acquisition of ERM
    • its acquisition of FGS Global
  • Acting for IVI RMA on its acquisition of Eugin Group, Fresenius’ fertility and reproduction-services business
  • Acting for Platinum Equity in respect of its acquisition and carve-out of the diabetic devices business (LifeScan) from Johnson & Johnson and providing support on multiple portfolio companies throughout the Platinum Equity portfolio.
  • Acting for OpenGate Capital on it acquisition of Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems and providing support on multiple portfolio companies within the OpenGate Capital portfolio.
