Biography

Laura Galeano is a junior associate in Baker McKenzie's Bogota office. She has three years' experience advising on labor law and day-to-day HR management.

Laura graduated cum laude with a law degree from Universidad Santo Tomás and received her postgraduate degree in employment law from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. She co-authored the article "Compensatory social policy and general justice" in Hallazgos Journal, which was nominated for "Best Academic Investigation on Law" in 2019.

Practice Focus

Laura focuses her practice on employment law, particularly labor law, HR administration, payroll benefits and agreements for mass termination.

She advises clients in the consumer goods, media and telecommunications, and oil and gas industries.

Representative Legal Matters

Before joining Baker McKenzie, Laura worked on the following matters:

  • Advised on the implementation and modification of flexible compensation schemes for around 8,000 employees in a telecommunications company with a strong presence in Latin America.

  • Advised on the structuring and development of agreements for mass termination.

  • Advised on structuring plans for the implementation of the progressive reduction of the working day for oil, gas and mining companies.
