Floris Dierickx
Biography
Floris Dierickx is an associate in Baker McKenzie's Antitrust & Competition Practice Group in London. He has experience in a wide range of antitrust, competition law and regulatory matters in the European Union and in the United Kingdom, including cross-border merger control, prohibited practices, compliance, corporate leniency, and foreign investment review.
Since joining Baker McKenzie, Floris has spent seven months on secondment with the competition team at Barclays.
Prior to joining Baker McKenzie, Floris worked as an associate at an international law firm in Brussels. He also served as a lecturer at the University of Leuven, and worked as a legal clerk at the Court of Cassation in Belgium.
Practice Focus
Floris advises multinational companies on high-value and complex merger transactions. He also advises and represents companies in market investigations and antitrust litigation relating to abuse of dominance, cartel conduct, and vertical restraints.
He has substantial experience working with regulators, including the European Commission, the UK Competition and Markets Authority, the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets and the European Anti-Fraud Office. He has broad experience in diverse industries, including digital markets, media and telecommunications, consumer goods, energy, healthcare, financial services, and industrials.
Representative Legal Matters
- Advised Sika, the Swiss multinational specialty chemical company, on its acquisition of MBCC Group, the former BASF Construction Chemicals, from an affiliate of Lone Star Funds, a global private equity firm, for a consideration of EUR 5.2 billion.
- Advised and assisted Cochlear, the Australian hearing implants business, on its acquisition of Oticon Medical from Demant, before the CMA and European Commission.
- Advising numerous multinational corporations during both European Commission and CMA dawn raids and subsequent investigations, including the CMA's dawn raids in the Sports Production and Chemical Admixtures cases.
- Advised a major entertainment company as a key third party in the European Commission's and UK Competition and Markets Authority's review of a high-profile transaction
