Laura Maria Amorocho Rojas
Biography
Laura Amorocho is a lawyer with a master's degree in international law from Universidad de los Andes.
Since 2021 she has advised national and international clients in the infrastructure, oil and gas and electric power sectors on public law, dispute resolution and international law matters.
Before joining Baker McKenzie, Laura worked at a leading Colombian law firm and at the Agencia Nacional de Defensa Jurídica del Estado. She has also been an assistant professor at Universidad de los Andes.
Between 2019 - 2020, she represented Universidad de los Andes in the John Jackson Moot Court Competition.
Practice Focus
Laura has experience advising clients in the infrastructure sector in the structuring and performance of public-private partnership and public works contracts in the airport, highway and hospital sectors.
Laura has advised clients in the oil and gas and electric power sectors on international human rights law and international law for the protection of foreign investment.
Laura also has experience in domestic arbitration conducted under the rules of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce and international commercial arbitration under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce.

- Provided support in the legal advisory in public law matters to the concessionaire that performs the fifth generation public-private partnership highway project for the southern section of Avenida Longitudinal de Occidente in Bogotá D.C.
- Provided support in the legal advisory in public law matters to the originator that presented the private initiative public-private partnership airport project for the expansion and improvement of the airfield of the El Dorado international airport in Bogotá D.C during the feasibility stage.
- Provided support in the legal advisory in public law matters during the structuring of a public-private partnership airport project of public initiative in Colombia.
- Provided support in the legal advisory in public law matters to the contractor that performs the public works contract for the new Santa Clara Hospital and CAPS in the Complejo Hospitalario San Juan de Dios in Bogotá.
- Provided support in the representation of a construction consortium in an international commercial arbitration administered under International Chamber of Commerce against a public entity.
- Provided support in the representation of a concessionaire of a highway project concession contract in a national arbitration administered by the Arbitration and Conciliation Center of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce against the Agencia Nacional de Infrastructura.
- Provided support in the representation of construction contractor of a hospital project in an amicable composition proceeding administered by the Arbitration and Conciliation Center of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce against a district health entity.
- Provided support in the legal advisory in the definition of a legal strategy in matters of human rights, international humanitarian law and constitutional law to an important company of the hydrocarbons sector.
- Provided support in the legal advisory in the definition of international protection measures under international law for foreign investment to companies of the oil & gas, energy and infrastructure sector.
- Provided support in the representation of the Colombian State in an international investment arbitration administered by the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes initiated by a company in the mining sector.
- Provided support in the representation of the Colombian State in the admissibility process of cases before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.
