Baker McKenzie today announces the appointment of Carlo de Vito Piscicelli as a partner in its global Banking & Finance practice. Carlo, a market-leading finance and restructuring lawyer who is dual qualified in New York and Italy, will serve as Head of Banking & Finance for Italy while contributing to the growth of the Firm’s London-based Finance team. He joins from Cleary Gottlieb, where he also split his time between the Milan and London offices and headed the Italian debt finance practice.

Carlo brings almost 25 years of cross-border leveraged and acquisition finance experience to Baker McKenzie, with a particular focus on the Italian, London and New York markets. He regularly advises corporate clients, private equity firms and leading investment banks on corporate bridge loans and term facilities, senior secured institutional loans and private credit financings. Carlo’s expertise spans investment grade products, working capital facilities, trade financings, private placements, high-yield bonds, asset-based facilities, fund-level financings, real estate financings, debtor-in-possession loans and other distressed investments, derivatives, and securitizations. He also has significant experience in restructuring and insolvency matters. Carlo has developed significant expertise in the infrastructure and telecommunications sectors, among other sectors.

Matthew Dening, Global Chair of Baker McKenzie’s Banking & Finance practice group, commented: “Carlo’s hire underscores our strategic commitment to further strengthening our global Banking & Finance capabilities to serve our clients' most complex needs across key financial centres around the globe. Carlo’s skills and cross-border practice will be a perfect match for our clients, and we are delighted to welcome him to the Firm."

Paola Colarossi, Baker McKenzie’s Managing Partner for Italy, said: “The addition of Carlo to our team is a significant milestone in our strategy to attract top talent and strengthen our Banking & Finance and Transactional offerings in Italy, across both our Milan and Rome offices. His deep connections within the local market, combined with his extensive cross-border expertise, will be terrific assets for our clients. His arrival builds on the momentum from the recent addition of partner Paolo Ghiglione to our M&A practice, also in Milan.”

Carlo de Vito Piscicelli added: “I am excited to join a firm that operates truly internationally—it plays to my core strengths as a dual-qualified lawyer with extensive experience executing transactions across several key financial markets. I look forward to contributing to the growth of the Italian transactional team and global Banking & Finance practice.”

Prior to joining Cleary Gottlieb in 2004, Carlo was an associate at Simpson Thacher in New York between 2000-2004. He started his career as an associate at Studio Legale Pedersoli in Milan.
