Baker McKenzie has advised global climate innovator Trane Technologies, a worldwide operating listed company (NYSE: TT) for innovative climate technology, on its strategic investment in Trailer Dynamics, the developer of the electrically supported "eTrailer". Trane Technologies and its brand Thermo King®, has become a strategic minority investor and cooperation partner of Trailer Dynamics, a technology innovator of eTrailers. The alliance will drive innovations that enhance efficiency and accelerate the transition to zero-emission transportation in Europe and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
"Thanks to our cross-practice group team, we were once again able to support Trane Technologies and advised on the key legal issues of this important transaction. This transaction will help to further drive decarbonization within the commercial transportation industry and the cold chain," commented Andrea Ziegler, Corporate/M&A Partner in the Frankfurt office.
Through its strategic brands Trane® and Thermo King®, and its portfolio of environmentally responsible products and services, the company provides efficient and sustainable climate solutions to buildings, homes and transportation. Thermo King® is a global leader in sustainable transportation climate control solutions and has been providing transport temperature control solutions for a variety of applications, including trailers, truck bodies, buses, air, shipboard containers, and railway cars since 1938.
Trailer Dynamics GmbH, founded in 2018 and based in Eschweiler, has developed a solution for the installation of an additional electric drivetrain in the eTrailer. This electric auxiliary drive of the eTrailer supports the conventional tractor unit with combustion engine and thus leads to a significant reduction in diesel and CO2 emissions as well as a greater range. Trailer Dynamics' vision is to use the eTrailer to make an important contribution to the decarbonization of our economy and to sustainable, environmentally friendly logistics for long-haul trucks.
