Dimitrios Stefanou
Biography
Dimitrios Stefanou is a Senior Associate, member of the Baker McKenzie Global Antitrust & Competition Practice Group, advising clients on EU antitrust/competition, merger control and foreign investment matters.
He is an experienced lawyer whose strategic acumen has been molded through his active involvement in deals spanning various sectors, including aviation, aircraft manufacturing, healthcare, consumer goods, media, biotechnology, technology (including AI), insurance, sea transportation, and energy. He receives commendation for his pragmatic approach, which is derived from his unique experiences gained across multiple antitrust roles filled on site in the Brussels, Stockholm, and currently, the Amsterdam offices.
He is an EU-qualified lawyer, and has trained, among others, at the Directorate General for Competition at the European Commission (Mergers Unit for Basic Industries, Manufacturing and Agriculture). He joined the Brussels office of Baker McKenzie in March 2020 as an associate.

- Advised a bioscience company in relation to horizontal cooperation agreement with a competitor, and exclusive distribution issues in relation to a monopoly market.
- Advised Hutchison Ports in the establishment of two new container terminal concessions in Egypt.
- Advised APAC conglomerate in its EUR 2 billion acquisition of a major APAC airline.
- Advised leading US and EU carriers in their network expansion agreement under EU competition law.
- Advised airlines consortia in regard to consolidation in the aviation industry.
- Advised and coordinated filings for BizLink its acquisition of LEONI Industrial Solutions business group.
- Advised Cummins in its global reorganisation of its filtration business.
- Represented companies in proceedings under the 101 and 102 TFEU before the European Commission, as well as the Greek and Dutch antitrust enforcers.
- Led team for the creation of the Baker McKenzie dawn raid for a multinational computer technology corporation.
