Biography

Meritxell is a senior associate in the Tax Practice Group at Baker McKenzie Barcelona. In 2018, she was on secondment to our Zurich office.

Meritxell frequently speaks at conferences and seminars on international tax planning, as well as at the Firm's seminars and webinars. She writes many articles and contributes thought leadership on various subjects, published both internally and externally (Private Wealth Newsletter and Aranzadi).

From the beginning, we at Baker McKenzie have participated in different corporate social responsibility programs. Coinciding with our 25th anniversary in Barcelona, she participated in the pro bono advice agreement with the Sant Joan de Déu Charitable Organization. Another outstanding project is the agreement to create and advise the Liceu Barcelona Opera House US Foundation.

Practice Focus

Meritxell offers advice on tax planning and restructuring to both Spanish and international companies. She regularly participates in cross-border operations and M&A, addressing local and international tax consequences. Her experience extends to international tax planning, reorganisations and transactions on international matters.

With extensive experience in the tax field of wealth management, Meritxell assists clients in planning and protecting their futures. She has successfully implemented sophisticated structures in Spain for foreign investors, offering attractive solutions for their investments and delivering tax-efficient strategies for after-tax wealth preservation and performance.

Additionally, Meritxell recurrently provides advice to clients involved in tax audits in Spain, ensuring that they navigate the complexities of tax regulations effectively. Her comprehensive approach and in-depth knowledge make her a valuable asset to clients seeking to optimise their tax positions and achieve their financial goals.
