José Prieto
Biography
José Prieto joined Baker McKenzie in 2000, and has been a partner in the Labor and Employment Department in Madrid since 2010. He has extensive litigation experience, with particular knowledge in labor-related fraud and compliance procedures. Mr. Prieto focuses his practice on procedures involving collective negotiations with unions. In addition to his practice, Mr. Prieto teaches employment law at Carlos III University and prestigious business schools, and is a regular speaker in labor relations forums and associations.
Practice Focus
Mr. Prieto’s practice covers employment litigation, employment contracts for executives as well as rank and file employees, negotiation of individual and collective termination procedures (redundancy procedures), negotiation of CBAs, labor conflicts and demonstrations, HR strategies, M&A labor advice, tax implications and pensions. He has negotiated numerous restructurings and massive layoffs with unions and works councils, as well as high-profile executive terminations. He also provides practical day-to-day advice to many important multinational companies.
