Cara Harrison
Biography
Cara Harrison is a principal tax advisor in the Chicago office.
Cara focuses her practice on international tax planning and transaction structuring for various public and privately held clients.
Leveraging over 18 years of diverse tax experience, she provides tax advisory services to a broad range of US multi-national and foreign-owned clients in a number of industries including, industrial manufacturing, automotive, information technology, retail, consumer products, pharmaceuticals, and private equity.
Practice Focus
Cara advises clients on a wide range of complex cross-border tax matters including transaction structuring, post transaction integration, carve outs, IP planning, financing and cash management, foreign tax credits, treaty matters, subpart F, GILTI and other provisions introduced as part of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, and the OECD’s Base Erosion and Profit Shifting regimes. She has extensive experience managing large global transactions, including oversight and delivery of complex modeling and quantitative analysis accompanying the tax technical advice, and has led a number of multibillion dollar acquisitions and dispositions.
Cara has been a speaker at various professional organizations, including the Chicago Tax Club, Bloomberg, and Accounting Conferences and Seminars. She is also on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago.
Prior to joining Baker McKenzie, Cara was the Chicago market leader for the International Tax Practice at a big four accounting firm.
