Biography

Mattia Falcone is a counsel in Baker McKenzie Amsterdam’s Transfer Pricing Team. Mattia joined the Firm's Europe Transfer Pricing Team in November 2010. Previously, he worked in the Amsterdam office of an American consulting firm, focusing on determining the value of intangible assets for tax and financial reporting purposes. Prior to that, Mattia worked for the financial services division of KPMG Advisory SpA, in Milan, where he helped a top-tier banking group comply with the MiFID European Directive. Mattia teaches an advanced transfer pricing course at the International Tax Center of the University of Leiden and has conducted training courses on the MiFID European Directive for bank executives.

Practice Focus

Mattia is experienced in handling transfer pricing and tax dispute resolution matters, focusing on financial analysis, economic benchmark and valuation analysis. He also has significant experience in the valuation of companies and intangible assets, in the context of acquisitions, divestitures, business restructurings and also for tax planning and tax audit defense purposes. He has helped numerous clients negotiate and conclude APAs, and develop and implement tax audit defense strategies in multiple European countries. Furthermore, Mattia has performed transfer pricing studies for clients in a wide range of industries, in the context of transfer pricing design and documentation projects. He has developed industry-specific knowledge in the industrial, oil and gas, household appliances and entertainment sectors.
