Biography

Louis Cornet is an associate in the Dispute Resolution & Arbitration Practice Group in the Brussels office. He joined Baker McKenzie in 2022.

Louis is also a teaching assistant at Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB).

He regularly writes about and speaks on contract law-related topics.

Practice Focus

Louis’ practice focuses on assisting national and international clients in their litigations before national courts and arbitral tribunals and contract drafting/negotiating. He also advises clients in various legal aspects of business and commercial law as well as in the fields of public procurement and distribution laws.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Assisting and representing a worldwide leading IT company in a major international construction arbitration, involving one main CEPANI arbitration, over 35 arbitration, pre-arbitration or litigation proceedings against subcontractors and several summary proceedings before Belgian courts.

  • Assisting and representing an international organisation targeted by a USD 100 million garnishment in several strategic and complex proceedings before Belgian courts.

  • Assisting and representing a leading High-Tech retailer in a major construction litigation involving its landlord, architects, general contractors and promoters.

  • Assisting and representing a foreign real estate investor in a lease dispute against major real estate operator, including assistance in bankruptcy proceedings.
