Stephanie Brown
Biography
Stephanie is an associate in the Houston office of Baker McKenzie, practicing in the Firm's North America Dispute Resolution Practice Group.
She previously clerked for Judge Kurt D. Engelhardt of the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and Judge Louis Guirola, Jr., of the US District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi. Prior to her legal career, Stephanie worked as a government relations director, collaborating with elected officials and agencies on health policy initiatives.
Practice Focus
Stephanie represents clients in a wide range of industries in both state and federal courts, with a focus on energy and construction in an array of commercial litigation, corporate disputes, and internal investigations and compliance.
Representative Legal Matters
- Represented EPC contractor on breach of contract and payment dispute in relation to USD 10 billion LNG project.
- Advised on pre-arbitration compliance and disputed claims under ICC Rules for West African LNG project.
- Represented midstream service provider in the oil and gas sector against claims for breach of contract, fraud, and breach of fiduciary duty.
- Defended oilfield equipment manufacturer in Texas personal injury litigation arising from wellsite explosion.
- Representing publicly-traded drilling company in OSHA investigation of wellsite incident.
- Representing publicly-traded drilling company in onshore and offshore personal injury litigation in state and federal courts in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Colorado, including investigating incidents, managing indemnity issues, and driving cases to resolution.
- Advised investment fund on enforcement of non-disclosure agreement obligations against a former employee.
- Advised on challenge to receivership over foreign entity in asbestos litigation in South Carolina.
- Defended cryptocurrency lending platform in customer litigation in the Northern District of California.
- Advised client on Texas regulatory and legal requirements governing the development and construction of wind energy projects.
