Biography

Elizabeth Barber is a senior associate in Baker McKenzie's Chicago office. Elizabeth specializes in domestic and international mergers, acquisitions, carve-outs and joint ventures and advises clients around the world with complex acquisitions and investments and sell side transactions. She regularly advises public and private companies on corporate governance and strategic issues and her experience spans various industries including technology, consumer products, food and beverage and manufacturing.

Elizabeth works with clients on a range of corporate and transactional matters, including domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, general corporate advice, venture capital transactions, entity formation, corporate governance, joint ventures and other complex strategic transactions.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Represented Newly Weds Foods, a food ingredient manufacturing company operating in over 90 countries, in its USD 4 billion plus sale to Redwood Holdings.
  • Advised Vandemoortele, a prominent European family-owned food group, in a strategic partnership with Banneton Bakery, a North American manufacturer of premium freezer-to-oven croissants and pastries.
  • Advised McDonalds Corporation in its acquisitions of artificial intelligence companies Apprente, a voice-based technology startup, and Dynamic Yield, a personalization platform and decision engine company. 
  • Represented an emerging B2B food technology company in its Series B financing of USD 25 million.
  • Advised DENSO Corporation in its USD 500 million strategic investment in the silicon carbide semiconductor business of Coherent Corp.
  • Represented Abbott Laboratories on its USD 890 million acquisition of medical device company Cardiovascular Systems, Inc.
  • Advised a high-growth drug discovery startup in its Series B financing of USD 500 million.
  • Advised a Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm in connection with equity investments in a number of early-stage startups and high-growth companies.
  • Represented Crane Co. in its acquisition of Crane & Co, Inc., a supplier of secure and highly engineered banknotes for central banks around the world.
