Baker McKenzie advised San Francisco based food technology company Mission Barns in obtaining regulatory clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its cell-cultivated pork fat. Following a rigorous safety evaluation of its cultivated pork fat, the FDA concluded that Mission Barns’ products made with its pork fat “are as safe as comparable foods” and said that it had no further questions. Mission Barns is the first company in the world to receive regulatory clearance for cell-cultivated pork fat.
The Baker McKenzie team was led by US Healthcare and Life Science Regulatory Practice Chair, Xin Tao, based in Washington, DC, and Dr. Robby Turner, based in Dallas.
