A Baker McKenzie trial team received a Litigator of the Week 'Shout Out' from the American Lawyer Litigation Daily, which recognizes the leading litigators and major case wins in the US each week. The recognized team included Mark Goodman, Barry Thompson, Michael Boardman, Henna Bhandal, Amaury Gateau Velayos, Peter Barto, Nada Hitti, Christine Estrada and Carmen Ayala.
The publication recognized the team's work representing Wing Inflatables in a suit against Certain Underwriters at Lloyd's of London in San Francisco Superior Court in California. Following a three-week trial, the jury rendered a verdict against Lloyd's for breach of contract and bad faith and awarded compensatory damages and punitive damages exceeding USD 18 million, not including interest and attorneys' fees.
