WGEA has named 115 employers as Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citation (EOCGE) holders following a rigorous assessment process. Baker McKenzie's Australian offices, for the 15th consecutive year, have been successfully included in this prestigious list.
Baker McKenzie's National Managing Partner, Anne-Marie Allgrove stated: "I am deeply committed to ensuring our firm provides equal opportunity for both men and women, and there is zero tolerance for sex-based harassment and discrimination.”
Anne-Marie added: "WGEA’s EOCGE citation enables us to continually review and assess what we are doing and challenges us to do more for gender equality”.
The WGEA EOCGE citation is a voluntary citation designed to encourage, recognize and promote an employer’s active commitment to achieving gender equality in Australian workplaces.
Criteria for the citation cover leadership, learning and development, gender remuneration gaps, flexible working and other initiatives to support family responsibilities, employee consultation, preventing sex based harassment and discrimination, and targets for improving gender equality outcomes.
WGEA CEO Mary Wooldridge congratulated this year’s EOCGE citation holders for their dedicated work to prioritize actions that address deep-rooted causes of gender inequality.
“The actions of EOCGE employers provide an example to others about how they can start improving gender equality in their workplace,” Ms. Wooldridge said.
Baker McKenzie set global gender targets of 40% women, 40% men and 20% flexible (women, men or non-binary persons) by 2025, which Australia is working towards.
“These targets apply to partners, senior business professionals, the firm's committee leadership and candidate pools for recruitment by 1 July 2025, and whilst we have made significant progress, there is still much work to do,” said Anne-Marie.
