Leading global law firm, Baker McKenzie, is pleased to announce that Andrew Hedges, Chair of the Firm's Global Climate Change practice , has been appointed as Co-Chair of the IETA Legal Working Group.

IETA’s Legal Working Group identifies and focuses on activities contributing to the development of a robust legal framework governing the creation, certification, and trading of carbon credits, as well as the rights and responsibilities of stakeholders involved in the carbon market.

In his new role, Andrew, alongside Lisa DeMarco, Resilient LLP and Elisa de Wit, Norton Rose Fulbright, will help address the many questions arising across carbon markets to support reasonable market regulation, drawing from parallels in related energy markets, to reduce confusion and avoid duplication in market governance.

Commenting on his appointment, Andrew said: "It is a pleasure to have been appointed as Co-Chair of IETA's Legal Working Group. We have been long-standing members and collaborators of IETA and know for a fact that these groups play a vital role in influencing policy decisions and provide an ideal platform for global companies to leverage commercial expertise and knowledge of other members. I am looking forward to working with Lisa and Elisa as the IETA continues to drive forward its activities related to the climate and carbon markets."
