Adil Hussain, Global Head of Islamic finance at Baker McKenzie in Dubai, was interviewed on the "Five minutes with" IFLR series. This new segment invites readers to learn more about lawyers on a personal as well as a professional level.
Adil focuses particularly on complex cross-border transactions, including a Saudi-listed sukuk; a Shariah-compliant financing that involves our colleagues from Malaysia, Singapore, Luxembourg and the Netherlands; and several other conventional and Shariah-compliant acquisition and real estate financings transactions across the Middle East and beyond.
When asked about his role, Adil commented: "The most exciting aspect of my role is that I get to work with incredibly bright and talented clients, and collaborate with like-minded, results-driven colleagues and peers across our firm’s global network on a daily basis."
His inspiration comes from his father, whom he sees as the epitome of resilience, perseverance, and kindness. If he weren’t a banking lawyer, Adil would pursue his love and passion for cricket professionally
