Leading global law firm Baker McKenzie has appointed Angela Petros to the role of Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).

Based in New York, Angela will lead the Firm's business development, marketing and communications function globally. She joins from Morrison & Foerster, where she held the role of CMO for the past eight and a half years.

Angela brings a strong track record in professional services, holding senior marketing and strategy roles with LexisNexis as well as working as a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group. She trained as a lawyer in her native Australia, and spent the first part of her career as an associate with (what are now) Herbert Smith Freehills and King & Wood Mallesons.

In recent leadership roles, Angela has focused on growing revenue by building and strengthening key client relationships, adopting a digital first approach to marketing, and developing strong, integrated global business development, marketing and communications teams.

Commenting on the appointment, Milton Cheng, Global Chair, Baker McKenzie, said, "Angela is a proven industry leader, with more than 20 years’ experience in the legal sector. As an Australian based in the US, holding a range of global leadership positions, she brings a global mindset and deep understanding of how key markets operate around the world, and we look forward to her leading our business development, marketing and communications function as the global economy continues to recover, generative AI really begins to impact our sector, and client needs are further driven by geopolitical complexity and regulatory scrutiny.”

Angela Petros said, "As it enters its 75th year in 2024, Baker McKenzie holds a place in the global legal landscape that few can match, seamlessly delivering value to clients around the world through the combination of our global platform, deep local market knowledge, and industry leading expertise in an increasingly complex and unpredictable environment. It is an extraordinary platform to build from and I am honored to take up the role of CMO for this next phase of the Firm’s journey.”

Angela has an honors degree in Law and a degree in Ancient History from the University of Western Australia, and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern with majors in marketing, finance, and strategy.
