Baker McKenzie's U.S. Trade Remedies team seeks a highly motivated and forward-thinking Litigation Paralegal to join our Washington D.C. office. The Paralegal will be responsible for supporting attorneys on major administrative proceedings and litigations, in all aspects of case management, including maintaining and organizing large case files (physical and electronic), docketing deadlines, conducting legal research, and drafting documents at the direction of a supervising attorney. Familiarity with U.S. trade remedy law is not required; however, we are very interested in candidates who may have experience in international trade law, including working on matters before the US Department of Commerce, US International Trade Commission, the U.S. Court of International Trade, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and other federal courts. Recent college graduates interested in pursuing legal careers in international trade law are encouraged to apply, too.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Must be able to deliver high-quality work product and work independently in fast-paced environment, navigating shifting demands and priorities
- Assist with the preparation of administrative responses, briefs, and other court filings, including cite checking, proof-reading, and preparation of tables of contents and authorities
- Assist in drafting documents, and all aspects of preparation and execution of depositions and trials
- Research and confirm administrative and court dates and filing requirements
- Assist and coordinate on all facets of the litigation process, including e-discovery, document review, and production
- Conduct research and produce, organize, and maintain litigation documents and evidentiary materials
- Oversee and manage the team case calendar and advise on upcoming deadlines and extensions
Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree required
- Strong technology skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe PDF, and Outlook
- Proactive, innovative, and results-oriented
This position is bonus eligible and includes benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) based on number of hours worked. The US base compensation for this position is expected to be $56,000 – 113,000 annually if located in an office in Washington, DC. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
