Biography

Laura is a senior associate in the Energy, Resources, Infrastructure and Corporate team in Baker McKenzie's Sydney office, assisting clients across all industries in respect of M&A, corporate restructures, funds, joint ventures, and public and private investment.

Practice Focus

Laura previously worked as a corporate associate in one of Scotland’s leading commercial law firms. She has also worked at a large European energy company where she focused on renewable energy and in 2020, Laura undertook a secondment at Future Fund Board of Guardians where she assisted the private equity, property and infrastructure and alternatives teams with the investment and management of the fund's assets.

Laura has experience in submitting foreign investment approvals, undertaking large scale due diligence reviews and project managing complex M&A transactions, alongside other general commercial work.

  • Acting for Sev.en Global Investments in respect of their acquisition of a majority stake of Coronado Global Resources.

  • Acted for Patrizia on its acquisition of an end-to-end utilities business from Macquarie and Beck Corporation.

  • Acted for a proposed purchaser of Energetics, a climate risk consultancy agency.

  • Acted for a bidder in respect of its proposed acquisition of Yanco Delta Wind Farm.

  • Assisted Osaka Gas on its joint venture with ACE Power to develop a portfolio of solar and energy storage projects.

  • Acted for a bidder in respect of the proposed acquisition of Daunia and Blackwater mines from the BHP Mitsubishi Alliance.

  • Acted for Patrizia on its acquisition of an end-to-end utilities business from Macquarie and Beck Corporation.

  • Acted for Wircon in respect of the sale of Wirsol Energy and its other Australian solar assets to Gentari (Petronas' clean energy business).

  • Acted for BayWa r.e. on its sale of Karadoc solar farm to Igneo Infrastructure Partners.

  • Advised Patrizia on its acquisitions of Ferguson, Diapur, Chepstowe and Maroona wind farms.

  • Advised Providence Asset Group on its joint venture with ICG in relation to a portfolio of solar projects.
