Global law firm Baker McKenzie and Estudio Echecopar, member Firm of Baker & McKenzie International in Peru, took home eight awards at Euromoney's Women in Business Law Americas Awards 2023. The event was held last night, June 8, in New York.

The Women in Business Law Americas Awards recognize the ground-breaking achievements by leading women lawyers across the Americas, as well as the most progressive law firms and in-house teams whose policies and initiatives support women in the practice of law.

The Firm's Lima office, Estudio Echecopar, was recognized with four awards: "Peru Firm of the Year" and "Latin America Firm of the Year" for Gender Diversity, Career Development and Work-Life Balance due to its progressive and innovative work in promoting diversity and inclusion policies within the firm, supporting the development of women in the profession and implementing programs to enable women to pursue long-term careers in the legal industry, and providing flexible work environments and family programs to support a healthy work-life balance.

In addition to these accolades, two Baker McKenzie lawyers and two Estudio Echecopar lawyers were recognized as leading practitioners in their fields for demonstrating excellence and innovation, and for being active advocates of gender diversity across the legal sector.

Restructuring & Insolvency Lawyer of the Year — Debra Dandeneau, partner in the firm's New York office, is former chair of Baker McKenzie's Global Restructuring & Insolvency Group.

International Trade Lawyer of the Year — Adriana Ibarra-Fernandez, partner in the firm's Mexico City, Mexico office, has over twenty years of experience in customs and foreign trade matters.

Litigator of the Year Ana María Arrarte, partner in the Firm's Lima office, is a leader in the dispute resolution and arbitration practice with more than 20 years of experience.

Commercial Arbitration Lawyer of the Year María del Carmen Tovar, partner in the Firm's Lima office, is a leader in the arbitration practice with more than 35 years of experience in national and international arbitrations related to investments, public services and public works.
