Learn about our Pacific Alliance initiative
Insurers are pursuing more careful investments and underwriting standards amid growing transparency and sales practice scrutiny. As capital requirements mount and competition intensifies, acquisitions and strategic alliances, and more effective handling and management of disputes and regulatory challenges, have become vital for reducing costs and serving new market needs.
We work with major international and local insurers and reinsurers, captives, insurance intermediaries, and self regulatory bodies to address these issues. Our insurance team has extensive experience assisting the insurance industry with acquisitions, investments and market issues as well as addressing its operational and regulatory needs. The team also routinely provides advice on the assessment and mitigation of risks and exposures arising from mergers, acquisitions, corporate transactions and risks facing alternative asset investors. That insurance and risk management advice also extends to project finance transactions, stakeholders, lenders, joint venture partners, third party equity investors, sponsors, bond underwriters and other parties in various industry sectors including, but not limited to, Oil and Gas, Utility, Transportation, Renewable Energy and Mining.
On the dispute side, our team consists of lawyers who have handled a wide variety of insurance, reinsurance and commercial matters for the insurance industry. They include issues arising under general liability, financial institutions coverage including D&O and E&O, professional liability, fiduciary responsibility, employment practices, environmental impairment, employee benefits and ERISA, life, health and disability, builders risk, commercial crime, technology, media and telecom, cyber-risk, intellectual property, and first-party property policies including nuclear facilities, as well as matters involving fidelity and surety bonds, payment and performance bonds, financial guaranty, securities litigation, and government investigations. Our team has represented parties before virtually every major judicial forum and arbitration institution in the world.
